This morning October 2nd, unexpectedly (but knew was failing)my 14 year old tough as nails Beijing died in my arms.
His stories of how he took over a household that had his big collie siblings utmost respect and fear, how he commanded the “ big dog” dog park within seconds of his arrival and some were afraid to enter when he was there can make my tears turn into laughter.
He was called “sidewinder”as he walked and ran sideways- due to a neurological impairment.
I saved him from a backyard breeder- he walked sideways, could not lift his head , had a cherry eye. He had the very best care of his life under Dr. Frank Capella at Village Vets that soon found out how tough this guy was. Beijing’s physical body has been wearing out the last two years as well as a heart murmur the last few years that required him to go to Latham cardiologists but somehow he made his presence known daily. Lately he barked any time I left the room for more than a few minutes. He still had a great appetite and loved being held – how appropriate he chose to leave that way.
Beijing, Love you always. Till we meet again.
